Set up by a team of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Ski 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of respite breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise and altitude and how they can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
On Thursday 9 March 2017, John Martin will attempt to ski the vertical height of Mount Everest, the World's highest mountain!
John's challenge is a BIG one. In just one day he intends to ski a vertical height of 29,029 feet or 8,848 metres.
To put this into perspective, that's as high as most airlines fly or the equivalent height of 3,400 flights of household staircases!
John will be undertaking the challenge in Gastein to raise funds for Ski 4 Cancer.
This is going to be a tough challenge but it's for a great cause. I've known a lot of people who have been affected by cancer... this is for them.
If you're able to sponsor me to complete this mammouth challenge, I would be very grateful indeed.
Thank you."
