French Ski Challenges 2014
(Alpine Elements)

Ski 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Ski 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of alpine based days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. skiing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

French Ski Challenges 2014

Ski 4 Cancer will be staging a series of challenges this winter in the French ski resort of La Tania.

Individuals or teams will be challenged to ski the vertical height of the World's highest mountain, Mount Everest (29,029ft / 8,848m), in just one day.

Beginners or can opt to ski the vertical height of France's highest mountain, Mont Blanc (15,781ft / 4,810m) in one day or the height of Everest over two days.

Registered participants should meet at 8am at the Hotel Montana, situated near the bottom of the La Tania gondola. All participants will need to sign some paperwork before the challenge starts at 9am.

Raise funds for Ski 4 Cancer and win all sorts of prizes courtesy of Alpine Elements and iGOSKI. The Hotel Montana will be running a 'Happy Hour' promotion on their terrace bar for people completing the challenge. Prizes will be awarded at 5pm in the Montana bar on both days of the challenge.

Who can take part?

Hotel Montana, La Tania - Ski 4 Cancer with Alpine Elements and iGOSKI in March 2014

Any competent skier or boarder with a valid lift pass can join in! Although not suitable for complete beginners, most people with two weeks of experience should be able to complete the Mont Blanc challenge. The Everest challenge is suited to intermediate or advanced skiers.

Which runs will I ski/board down?

Choose from the green, blue or red pistes which run adjacent to La Tania's gondola. With a vertical drop of 532 metres, you will need to complete 9 runs to ski the height of Mont Blanc and 17 runs to descend the equivalent height of Everest. Alternatively, use Ski Tracks to track your vertical descent anywhere within the 3 Valleys.

How do I register?

Registration before the event is FREE. Places are limited though so please express your interest early to avoid disappointment. Once registered, we will contact you to set up your online fundraising page so you can collect donations from friends, family and work colleagues.

Alternatively, register on the morning of the challenge at the Hotel Montana. People registering on the day will be asked to make a minimum donation of 20 Euros to enter.
