Set up by a group of skiing and boarding enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member to cancer, Ski 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of alpine respite breaks for families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to cancer care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise and altitude and how they can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
Become a World Record holder by taking part in the Ski Everest World Record Attempt! The Challenge will take place on the slopes of Austria's premier ski area (www.saalbach.com).
The challenge will be to descend the height of Mount Everest (29,029ft / 8,848m) as one large group and raise funds for Ski 4 Cancer at the same time. Over 500 skiers are expected to take part.
Any competent skier can join in! Most intermediate skiers should be able to complete the challenge in about 5 hours. Advanced skiers will need less time. Under 18s will need permission from a parent or guardian or should be accompanied.
Meet and ski alongside Olympic ski jumping legend and Ski 4 Cancer patron Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.
We are using Eventbrite to manage the entries for this challenge. Please register as soon as possible to help us plan ahead in terms of expected numbers.
In addition, you will also need to sign a disclaimer in resort, either the day before the challenge (8 March) at the Zwolferkogel lift office (base station) between 09:00 and 16:00 or on the morning of the challenge (9 March) from 08:00. The lift will open at 08:30.
