Alun Evans tackles Mount Everest!

Ski 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Ski 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of respite breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. skiing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

On Thursday 9 March, Alun Evans will attempt to set a new World Record by skiing the vertical height of Mount Everest, the World's highest mountain, in just one day!

His challenge is a BIG one. In just one day he intends to ski a vertical height of 29,029 feet or 8,848 metres.

To put this into perspective, that's as high as most airlines fly or the equivalent height of 3,400 flights of household staircases!

Alun will be undertaking the challenge in Saalbach (Austria) alongside ski jumping legend Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.

Alun commented:

We've all known people who have been affected by cancer... I am doing this to help other people who are going through the same thing.

If you're able to sponsor me to complete this mammouth challenge, I would be very grateful indeed. All monies raised will go to a local cancer centre.

Thank you."
