Set up by a team of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Ski 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of respite breaks for British families affected by cancer.
We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of exercise (e.g. skiing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.
On Thursday 9 March, Simon Jones, Sue Jones and Simon Goddard (Team Triple S) will attempt to set a new World Record by skiing the vertical height of Mount Everest, the World's highest mountain, in just one day!
Their challenge is a BIG one. In just one day they intend to ski a vertical height of 29,029 feet or 8,848 metres.
To put this into perspective, that's as high as most airlines fly or the equivalent height of 3,400 flights of household staircases!
Sue, Simon and Simon will be skiing the challenge alongside Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards in Saalbach (Austria) to raise funds for Ski 4 Cancer.
As many of you know, our own family has been affected by cancer in recent years. This is our way of fighting back...
Given we climbed to the Everest Base Camp for our honeymoon and the fact that I grew up in Austria, this seemed like a great way to raise funds.
If you're able to sponsor us to complete this mammouth challenge, we would be very grateful indeed.
