Everest Challenge 2018

01 October 2017

It is with regret that we have had to cancel this year’s World Record Attempt.  Instead we will be running a simple ‘Everest Challenge’ on Friday 16 March 2018.  Sadly, we do not have the resources to meet the Guinness requirements which become more complex every year. We sincerely apologise for any disappointment.

For 2018, Ski 4 Cancer supporters will ski or snowboard the height of Mount Everest to raise funds for the charity.  Unlike with the World Record, participants will choose their own route through the resort and use the Skiline system to monitor their vertical metres skied.

The Challenge will take place on the slopes of Austria’s premier ski area (www.saalbach.com). People will start at the Zwolferkogel base station at 09:00.

The Challenge

The challenge will be to descend the height of Mount Everest (29,029ft / 8,848m) in one day and raise funds for Ski 4 Cancer at the same time. There will be a 10 Euro entry fee for people who want to take part.

Date

  • Friday 16 March 2018

Who can take part?

Any competent skier or snowboarder can join in! Most intermediate skiers/boarders should be able to complete the challenge in about 5 hours. Advanced skiers will need less time. Under 18s will need permission from a parent or guardian or should be accompanied.

How do I register?

Please register as soon as possible to help us plan ahead in terms of expected numbers.  In addition, you will also need to sign a disclaimer in resort on the morning of the challenge at the Zwolferkogel lift office (base station) between 08:00 and 12:00. The lift will open at 08:30.

Any Questions?

If you have any questions in the lead up to the event, please get in touch. Many thanks!
